Culture
Tradition & the future go hand-in-hand here
Only at first glance does the rural idyll dominate in the Bregenzerwald. Between the wood-shingled house facades and the impressive landscape, there is space for a wide range of culture and exciting architecture. In Au, for example, the Baroque Master Builder Museum presents the exciting history of the Auer Guild, while in Schoppernau the Franz Felder Museum illustrates the life of the farmer, social reformer and writer from the Bregenzerwald.

Fixed points in the cultural programme
A regular place in the cultural calendar is also taken by the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, along with the newly created FAQ Festival Bregenzerwald - this social forum of a different kind offers lectures, concerts and discussions in extraordinary places and exudes festival character.
Wooden shingles and new ideas
The Bregenzerwald provides a surprise architecturally too. Anyone who thinks that it is all about the wooden shingle facades is mistaken - tradition is appreciated here, but there is also space for new things. This can even be seen at the bus stops – such as in Krumbach, where architects from seven countries designed seven bus stops.
